I am tring to find a Confederate ancestor for a friend whose great grandfather was Francis Marion Karnes who was born in 1828 in TN, married Louisa Jane Collum in 1852 in Fayette Co., TX and was on the 1860 census for Fayette Co., TX. A lady said that he died on Nov. 7, 1862 in Fayette Co., TX.

On the Civil War Soldiers & ?ailors site, I found a Private Francis M. Karnes who served in Company I, 16th Regiment, Texas Infantry, (Flournoy's). Can he be my friend's Francis Marion Karnes? Thanks for any help.
