one small tidbit to add to this story - re: Company K, 12th Regiment Texas Cavalry

at its founding this unit originally enlisted as the "Eutaw Blues", named for the only small town (at that time) in southern Limestone County Texas.

Subsequently, after amalgamation with Parson's unit, they were known as the "Limestone County Mounted Rifles" .
