My gggrandfather served for 6 months, April 1 to October 1, 1862, in Company H 21st Texas Calvary. Can anyone direct me to information about where he might have been in that 6 month period? Also, were soldiers allowed to sign up for specific periods as appears to be for my gggrandfather? He was born in 1821 so he was 41 when he signed up.
