Company C: Capt. J. Rucker Men from Upsher County, Tx
But let me caution you that all these men may not have actually been from the County
where they enlisted.
My (late) Wife's great grandfather, R.S. Lyles, was living in Rusk Co., Tx but enlisted in Co H., from
Van Zandt Co., Tx. He had relatives in Van Zandt Co., and evidently went there to enlist with them.
I don't see M. C. Hillard listed in Co. A, just as assigned as Assistant Surgeon; killed at Chickamauga.
Carlock's Book shows him under Men Killed at Chickamauga from Company A.
