Thank you for the look up. He didn't desert but quite a few did because of their horses being taken from them. In his file is a letter in which Taylor asks for leave to go home to see his sick wife and son. Leave was granted. He was made a corporal, went to Louisiana, and was wounded at Blair's Landing. I was hoping to find the hospital where he was sent and where he died in Louisiana. He didn't recover from his wounds. Thank you again for letting me know what was in the book.
