I will toss this in. Capt White and others had Ranging Companies in Bell County. It is highly likely that any of these soldiers serving anywhere in the army might call themselves Rangers and any man serving in these companies were historically speaking considered Rangers and can usually be found on Ranger rolls, though not all ways easily done. I am basically speaking of companies enrolled before the war. Capt White took his company almost intact and enrolled them in the 6th Texas Cavalry as Company H. No Popes though.

There were three Popes in Company I, 27th Texas Cavalry. One in Company B. Another was found in the 3rd Texas Cavalry and his name was also Green Pope.
