I believe that all people with the "Itz" surname in Fredericksburg are decendents of Karl Itz Sr.. He was my GGG-uncle and his family lived with my GG-grandparents(Ludwig and Pauline Itz Evers) during the conflict. Karl was wounded but escaped and hid in a remote cave until the end of the war. At least part of the Seidensticker family is also related to Karl Itz Sr..
