Bill, Pvt. Hiram Abiff Willson of Co. K was born in 1821, so when he was paroled after the Battle of Hatchies Bridge, he was discharged from the Army due to age. He enlisted in the Texas State Troops afterwards. I do not have his Texas record off hand, but I can give it to you if it matters. It appears he was through "studying war", unless the anticipated invasion of Texas came about.
