Re: Co I, Mtd Militia, 1st Regt, 2nd Brig, TST

The Texas State Troops that were organized in 1864 were not accepted into Confederate service although that was the original plan. The new 2nd Brigade, as organized in 1864, was composed of counties in central and north Texas including Johnson County. I have a list of the field officers of the 1st Regiment but Washington Marion Wilhite was not one of them. The position of major did not exist at the company level. The entire 2nd Brigade was ordered to Bonham, Texas in April 1864 by General McCulloch. No later record of them has been found. The 2nd Brigade was commanded by Brigadier General John S. Griffith with the brigade headquarters being at Cotton Gin in Freestone County. I don't have any information about Camp Isam. In May 1864, many of the Texas State Troops (those who were age 17 and 45-50) joined the Texas Reserve Corps.
