18th Texas Calvary, Co. B

- Searching for information regarding Gabriel Page, enlisted 1 Jan 1862 at Bastrop, Texas. Appointed 3rd corporal 1 Sept, 1862.
- CSR shows: capture at Ft. Hindman, Arkansas Post, Ark, 11 Jan 1863 & admitted to Camp Douglas, Illinois, 8 Feb. 1863.
- Delivered to City Point, VA on 7 April, 1863 for exchange.

Questions: Are there Union records of the prisoners of war at Camp Douglas? What sort of "exchange" took place on 7 April, 1863? A prisoner exchange? And if so, is there a Union record of such an exchange? Also, would the Confederate prisoners have been required to take the Oath of Allegiance before being released?
