Units at Galveston at the end of the war

I previously posted a message concerning John H. Short, who attested in his pension application that he enlisted in the 16th Texas Infantry, transfered to the "dismounted cavalry," and surrendered at the end of the war at Galveston. I have several questions that perhaps someone can assist me.

What Confederate units were at Galveston at the end of the war?

Also, there were units, such as Walker's Division and Polignac's old brigade, which were at Hempstead and Richmond, Texas, at war's end. From the accounts I have read, it seems many of the men in the units simply left for home in mid May 1865. Would the men in these locations who remained for the official surrender have gone to Galveston for parole?

Are there any lists of the men paroled at Galveston, Hempstead, or Richmond at the end of the war?
