The Register of Confederate Dead, Rock Island, Illinois shows that Ernest died June 26, 1864.

You may wish to obtain "A Short History of the Rock Island Prison Barracks, Historical Office, U. S. Army Armament, Munitions, & Chemical Command, Rock Island, Illinois 61299-6000." Published 1985. 51 page document.

I obtained my copy by contacting the Director, RIA Museum, in 1997 who was then Daniel T. Whiteman, Department of the Army, Rock Island, Illinois 61299-5000.
