We in Louisiana will always honor and cherish those Texans who fought along side our ancestors against the invaders of the North. Our camp along with the Order of the Confederate Rose camp purchased a historical marker which has been dedicated on La Hwy 182 near the burial site of the Texas soldiers buried from Bourbeau. The landowner does not allow access to the site I am told to prevent pot-hunters from digging up the remains in search of relics. I will search cemetaries in Opelousas and Grand Coteau in search of the brother's grave as our lodge apparently retrieved his body, conducted Masonic services, and paid $60.00 for the cost of the funeral.
