The action at Guard Hill took place about two miles north of town. Jed Hotchkiss drew a map of the fighting, shown in the Official Atlas on plate LXXXII, map 4:

"Anderson had a fight with the Yankee cavalry at Guard Hill, in which he got the worst of it."
