Re: Mason's Rangers, 7th VA Cavalry

Thank you very much for the information. John O. Crown was Joshua Randolph's brother. From what I read in a book detailing the operations of the 35th VA, Joshua and John were captured by a Col. Cole near Point of Rocks, MD in November 1863. Col. Cole threatened to hang Joshua. He and John O. were sent to Ft. McHenry (Baltimore) and then he was sent to Johnson's Island, OH and John O. was sent to Point Lookout. The F.N. Crown in the list was their youngest brother Frederick Nicholas who was wounded nr. Point of Rocks and died in 1865 at age 22.

After The War John O. Crown went back to Berryville, VA and bought The Clark County Courier and ran that until his death in 1899. The day of his funeral every business in Berryville closed in his honor.

Joshua apparently lived in Millwood, VA for a time but then made his home in Baltimore, MD where he owned and operated a cigar store until his death in 1885.

Thanks again for all your help. I really appreciate it.
