It is because of a personal cemetery preservation issue that I was involved with last year that I began working on this legislation. Last year I, with tremendous help from Mr. Bobby Wood, Mr. Michael Tyler and a few others tried to stop the destruction of a private family cemetery, which dated back to the 1700's. We were unable to stop the destruction due to the present VA State Codes. So, seeing that legislation needed to be changed to prevent this from ever happening again...that's where we are now. Your signature on the petition will help us to show the Virginia lawmakers that cemeteries, such as these, deserve and need protection.
