Thanks for the information. Do you think this is an error on the part of the website, in that there is no state associated with the regiment? (6th Regiment US Veteran Volunteers Infantry) When I clicked on the 6th Regiment it said it had no information on it.

Did every regiment have a state associated with it or were there some general units? I am trying to figure out how to look it up. The only thing I might think is that it is either an Iowa or a NY unit.
