Granville Bruce of 50th VA Infantry?

Hello! Trying to find out if a Granville Bruce possibly of 50th VA Infantry (poss. Co. F, "Pedlar Mills Guard"?) would be the same Pvt. Granville Bruce of Amherst Co. VA that ended up as a member of Ahls Indpt. Battery Heavy Artillery at Fort Delaware?
I know that many members of Ahls unit were "galvanized" Confederates who then ended up bizarrely serving as guards at Fort Delaware but am trying to make sense of the paperwork (Union discharge doc) that we've recently come across.
Ours appears to have been born March 1842 and died Dec. 26 1912, buried in Anne Arundel Co. MD. Enlisted (Union) in Wilmington DE, November 21 1864 for 2 years and mustered out July 25 1865 also in Wilmington DE.

Sorry to see that John Chapla has passed as he seems to have been the keeper of the 50th VA Infantry memories.......!
I can also be contacted at jim.hall@state.de.us, thank you for any light that any of you may be able to shine here - JIM
