Re: Granville Bruce of 50th VA Infantry?

Thank you for the quick reply, George! Wasn't sure how active this would be.

So he would've mustered out of CSA in Baltimore Nov. 6 in 1864 and then mustered in w/ Federals Nov. 21, 1864? Fifteen days later? That seems extreme! Not to doubt the record but his height is registered as 5'9" and dark complexion on his Fed. discharge paper as well vs the 5'7" and fair complexion noted on CSA paperwork you'd noted.

Seems there are several out there & I'm just trying to see if this is the one & same. I found another (?) another Granville Bruce of Co. E, 1st VA Reserves who was paroled at Appomattox!

Could there be 4 Granville Bruce's with 3 in CSA (one in 50th Inf VA, Co. F, the one you mentioned in 12th MD Inf., Co. C, and the one I mention above paroled at Appomattox) ... plus 1 in Federal service with Ahl's Battery?

I think I'm supposed to be getting some additional docs from the original donor of the discharge paper that I cited above (and which started this search) so hopefully we may get more on this individual to help suss this out. NOt sure what I am actually going to be getting though in this "bunch of papers"! Thanks for any additional insight that may be brought to bear here! - JIM
