Most visitors will inquire after a single soldier, may not know the name of his command, and have little understanding of 19th century military organizations or terminology. Despite the number and variety of records listed in the catalogue, those visitors will almost certainly leave the library disappointed. Hopefully there are enough interested and experienced archivists on staff at the state library who can patiently explain what they have and how it relates to the visitor's research topic.
