Thank you for replying and for the information; this account confirms what I read in Jeffrey Weaver's book, 64th Virginia Regiment. Surviving Camp Douglas was somewhat amazing, by all acounts as horrible and cruel as southern POW camps and the men who joined the 5th US in 1865 probably were not told the war was over. I do not know what happened to Perry Money after 1865 but will coninue to search. (His older brother William was my gg grandfather). Thanks again.
