Young's Company

I am researching an ancestor for whom recent information has been found suggesting that he fought for the south and specifically within a cavalry unit in Virginia known as Young's Company. So far my search has not been very rewarding other than to learn that it seems while this was a cavalry unit they seem to have been an artillery unit:howitzer Marine Artillery to be more specific. This ancestor enrolled (according to the scant available information) at Norfolk, survived the war only to die a year after cessation of hostitilies. Up until this information was found, no one knew of any family member that had fought for the south. I would like to learn whatever there is available about this unit and what roll they played.
Thank you in advance for any information anyone may be able to provide.
