Richard
Thanks for the response. Your question about Pig River or Pig Creek sent me back to my source -- the 1860 Census for Franklin County. The page of the census that lists Hamilton W. Richard -- no "s" -- does not have a post office designated. The page is merely labeled S. West District, Franklin Co. However the page is in a section that starts with the Post Office of Pig River and ends with Retreat Post Office. Given the convention used by the census taker in not filling out all the post office designations for a group of people following the first designation of the post office, I concluded that H.W. Richard lived in the Pig River Post Office area. As your question indicates, when I got around to putting that information in my roster, I somehow wrote Pig Creek instead of Pig River. Thanks for the question. I will make the correction becasue I am in the process of a major update of the roster and history of the 42nd.
