Re: 9th, 10th and 13th Virginia Cavalry
According to Robert K. Krick's 9th Virginia Cavalry (VA Regimental Histories Series) In late May the 9th had 37 officers and 984 men. The Regiment was suffering from illness both of men and horses (horses had a hoof disease that was very serious) Only 616 were present and mounted, another 97 officers and men were present but non-effective. An additional 308 officers and men were absent. After the battle (June 9, 1863) the 9th listed 15 KIA (many new recruits) and 21 wounded.
