That is him. Willard Lockward Crozier b 1-29-1841 in Springfield, IL married to Eliza Hitsman and had a son Willard Franklin Crozier b 9-30-1862, He mustered in on 9-29-1862 in the 142nd NY infantry (Union) Company A under Cp[t Edward A Hurlburt. He was a private. He was wounded at Drewry's Bluff (Ft Darling), taken POW and died of his wounds shortly thereafter. Somewhere it was noted that he was buried in an unmarked grave which could make it nearly impossible to find him. I am trying to find where they buried the Union soldiers to see how many they have in unmarked graves. I am trying to find out first where they took the wounded soldiers. I guess they may have just taken them to a POW camp and treated them there.

I am so excited to find somebody that has some background in this. Eliza Hitsman was his young widow and she married Solomon Edwards after Willard died. They were my maternal grandfateher's grandparents and I am tracing as much on the family as I can for my Mom.

Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

Dianne
