Thanks for the response. By using Montross for a present day location I was able to locate Mattox Creek on an old Civil War Map. I have found that the communities of Oak Grove and Leedstown are in the general area that I am researching. I hope to contact someone in those communities or at the County Seat in Montross for additional information.
