Thanks for the information. Find-a-grave records indicate the Joseph Mangus is buried at Mangus Mtcassell Cemetery at Green Hill (Roanoke County). My family records confirm that he died at Ft. Delaware. I find it highly unlikely that his family would have had the means to have his body returned home for burial. I suspect that he is buried "on the Jersey shore." Thanks for your help. I now know a little more about my Confederate roots. In all, three Mangus brothers went to war. William, the oldest, ended up in Gage County, Nebraska; John, my gggrandfather, died at Ladoga, IN and Joseph died at Ft. Delaware. Two out of three survived the war. Thanks again. I wonder if they just erected a memorial stone for Joseph back home?
