And one more addition to this odyssey through the compiled service records. David Tester does have a compiled service record, only it's labeled David Teaster, G/6th NC Cav. (65th NC State Troops). You can find it on Footnote.com. He enlisted in Dec 1862 for the war at Johnson Co., Tenn., in "Artillery (Old) Co. G, 65th NC Troops." The company was commanded by Capt. James S. Folk. He was present in the company on 31 March 63, but only listed, with no status stated, on the June to December 1863 company muster roll. He was paid by Maj. F. Henderson at Jonesboro, Tenn, on 23 April 1863 for rations commuted while hospitalized 16 Feb to 10 March 1863. Maj. J.J. Shawn [sp?] signed the pay receipt as commanding the 65 NCST.
