James A. Lee, Co H, 2nd Va Cav

My great great grandmother's brother, James Albert Lee, from Chap in Appomattox Co. was killed in battle in Rockingham Co. Oct. 8, 1864 according the the family Bible. This was a day before the battle of Toms Brook, aka the Woodstock Races, which was, however, in neighboring Shenadoah Co. His unit was involved in that fight so I assume the county of record could be in error and the fact that the date was the day before the battle is possibly incorrect or meaningless since the armies were constantly skirmishing.

I see on find-a-grave.com the burial of "A. Lee" dates unknown of Co. H 2nd Va Cav which is his unit. The burial is in Massanutten Cemetery at Woodstock in Shenadoah Co. Records also say "remains found on Ramsburg Farm". Our man went by the name Albert in a census record so I wonder if this could be him.
