I should explain - the Durvin family was from Virginia. I am hoping to find out that Thomas J. Durvin joined the Regular U. S. Army before the Civil War and then at the start of the War he found himself 'stuck' in New Mexico/Colorado Territory. His listing as 'missing in action' may indicate that he deserted the U. S. Army and either joined the Confederate Army or just disapeared. The fact that I cannot find any other information on him makes me wonder?
