Re: 33rd VA INF, Question re: uniforms issued (if

Hi Ken,

Sorry, but no reference to unit flag(s) or color guards. The letters are residing (temporarily) at a Sherlock Holmes site I'm slowly developing. I intend to create a site (working title "Sons of the Shenandoah" about my father's lines from the Valley of Virginia (Martin "White House" Kauffman, his grandsons: Benj. F. [33rd VA INF], David J. [Pvt. 7th VA CAV - did a fairly famous map of Elmira, NY POW camp], and my g grandather Joseph William Coffman who moved up into Ohio and then over to Illinois as a one-room schoolteacher [I have a copy of his diary]).

Here are links to the two letters I have posted:
http://221b.org/FiguresAtGettysburg/letter1.html referencing aftermath of Gettysburg, the 33rd was on the Culp's Hill side of the battle.
http://221b.org/FiguresAtGettysburg/letter2.html from Fort Delaware POW prison

B. F. Coffman was wounded at Malvern Hill, but returned to action. He fought at Chancellorsville (made 2nd Corporal just subsequent to that battle, Gettysburg, of course and many other engagements).

Frank
