Andrew Alexander Kean moved around quite a bit. He enlisted first on 20 July 1861 in Allegheny Co in Co. D, Wise Legion Va. Arty. That unit later became Wm. H. Turner's Co. Va. Light Artillery and Kean remained assigned to it. Turner's company was disbanded 4 October 1862 and the men assigned to the Orange Artillery (Capt. Frye's Co. Va. Light Artillery). Kean remained assigned to that battery until 2 August 1864 when he was detailed to Haskell's Arty Bn.
