Fitzgerald for "Residence in the city," last recorded as 3rd Sergeant on the January 19, 1865 muster roll, presence was not stated, but under remarks: "Detailed C. S. Armory," no further records

This company subsequently became Company D, 1st Battalion Virginia Infantry, Local Defense Troops.

The 1st Battalion Virginia Infantry, Local Defense Troops, (also known as the Ordnance Battalion and as the Armory Battalion) was organized May 28, 1863, of employes in the Ordnance Department, and mustered into C. S. service June 15, 1863, for Local Defense and Special Service, exclusively for the defense of Richmond and vicinity, for the term of residence in that city.
