Cunningham for the war, recorded as 4th Sergeant April 29, 1862, recorded as Jr. 2nd Lieutenant June 30, 1863, appointed 1st Lieut. March 15, 1864, wounded and captured October 19, 1864 at Fisher's Hill,** treated at USA Field Hospital, Winchester, Va., gun shot wound, flesh, both thighs,***transferred November 8 to Baltimore Hospital, arrived Point Lookout, Md. prison November 23, transferred to Washington, DC January 2, 1865, sent to Fort Delaware February 3, paroled and forwarded to City Point, Va. for exchange February 27, received furlough March 24, paroled at Richmond, Va. May 2, 1865, his file contains correspondence between the Adjutant General, War Department with the Louisiana State Board of Pension Commissioners, dated 2/15/1915
