Thanks for you post. Made me go back and look at my transcription of the 30 August letter. Where you correctly read "Dale" I had read "Jace." By the way, Hugh T. Dale "ABANDONED [HIS] COMRADES IN ARMS EARLY IN THE ACTION AND DID NOT REJOIN THE COMMAND TILL AFTER THE ENGAGEMENT" AT PAYNE'S FARM [28N,861]
