John Pack was named as having been seriously wounded at Chancellorsville in a letter written by Henry A. Hefflefinger, K/50Va, on 12 May 1863 to Dear Friend [Delilah P. Jessup]. Hefflefinger was telling Jessup "something about the fight" in which "they was a heavy loss on both Sids[.]" The letter includes the names of the men killed and wounded from K/50th Va. Such letters were one means the families at home had of learning the fate of loved ones. The original letter can be found in the Henry A.
