…………..

Pancoast Burnett, Private, Capt. Thomas R. Thornton’s Company (Caroline Light Artillery) Virginia Vols., enlisted April 1, 1864 at Bowling Green, present at the February 28, 1865 muster, paroled at Ashland, Va. April 25, 1865

Captain Thornton’s Company Virginia Light Artillery (Caroline Light Artillery) was organized July 23, 1861. It served in Lighfoot’s Battalion of Artillery, which was composed of independent companies.

Note: He may have been conscripted having just reached the age of 17 and could have been a first year Cadet at the academy. I do not know if Cadets at Military Academies were exempt from service.
