Re: Casualties in Lockhart's Battalion at Chehaw

William C. Ward's account is "First Battle On Alabama Soil Not Reported by The Confederates" and it can be found in the Birmingham Age-Herald of August 10, 1902. Might I also recommend the book "Sherman's Horsemen - Union Cavalry Operations in the Atlanta Campaign", 1996, Indiana University Press by Dr. David Evans. You won't find a more complete analysis of Rousseau's Raid in print and if you are interested in the least on this subject it is well worth the read. Meticulously researched and well written.
