Re: Capt. James White's Cavalry and/or Co. K, 15th

Alan,

Thanks much for further clarification. Didn't transcribe all the pension applications in 1984, but of the few I did
transcribe, I've found what may be five references to this unit or what it subsequently became.

All of these pensions were filed by widows, so their memory of their husbands' units (or perhaps of those who assisted them with the applications) may not have been what the soldiers would have listed. I can't say.

I found the following references:

1. Corp. in Capt. White’s Company of Marengo Reg’t of Alabama Cavalry. Have now found a subsequent application or reference to this same widow and husband's service as "Capt. White’s Co.K, of Maury’s Regt Ala.Cav." So, it appears she may have been trying to reference Co. K, 15th Confederate Cavalry.

2. Another widow's application has "Co. K, 15 Regt Confed.Cavalry"

3. Another widow's application has "Co. K, 15th Regt.of Confed.Cavalry"

4. Another has "Co. K of CC under Col.Harry Maury and D. McKeller Regt 15"

5. And another has "Co. K of the 15th Regiment Cavalry Volunteers"

So far I've found no reference in the transcriptions I made to Co. D, Murphy's Battalion or to Co. D, Murphy's Florida-
Alabama Battalion.

"Please contact me if you need copies of Alabama service records."

Thanks for offer. I have ordered many in the past and have
recently received four from MS and have another on order from NARA. Need to compile a list of those I want and lack.

Again, thanks for assistance.

Margaret
