These are some letters written by Joab Goodson who served as a Captain of Company B, "The Scottsville Guards".
Although I'd recommend Boyd's "Devil's Den" as a good source for muster rolls and short biographies of some of the 44th's men (including John Columbus Deason, my 3rd great-grandfather), most of it's text deals with a general history of the war. Two other books you may want to buy and I recommend are "Law's Alabama Brigade in the War Between the Union and the Confederacy" and "Struggle for the Round Tops; Law's Alabama Brigade at the Battle of Gettysburg", both co-written by Morris M. Penny and J. Gary Laine.
