Re: Alabama or C.S. Naval Forces?

Thanks erverybody. I was wondering about the Marines because I saw the wreck of the CSS Jackson at the "National Civil War Navy Museum" yesterday. What is left of the original hull is sitting there with the rest of it, and the upper superstucture recreated. Not a complete repro of the boat, sort of like rails or something to show you the looks and size of it. It was huge! It looked long as a football field and looked 40 yards wide, with two big guns fore and aft, instead of the usual single bow and stern gun. I thought that a boat that big would surely have a Marine contingent, even if a small one. If you ever get a chance, if you're into CW Naval history, I highly reccommend the "National Civil War Naval Museum" in Columbus, Ga.. Their website is;
"www.portcolumbus.org/".
Take care,
Dave
