Thanks for the information and yes, would you send me your notes on this unit... I know I have brought it up several times in the past but you never know who might just be coming on the board.

One of the things that facinates me is the incredible difference in the war and feelings about the war from 1861 to the end. The romantisms of the early years (of Gone With the Wind scenes) giving way to a tired duty of the later years. What an interesting story the 57th would be - the men who really rather not leave thier homes and families but had to, then caught up in the tragedy of Hood's actions in GA and TN. Not one of the glory regiments of Alabama but a real human story of men trying to make it thru one of the more difficult trials of our history. The fact that my ancestor was among them, makes me even more interested in determining and preserving thier story.
