Microfilm of "all" Alabama Confederate war deaths.
In Response To: killed in action ()

In addition to the sources that Alan mentions, there are microfilm records of "all" Alabama casualties. This microfilm is available at the state archives (I haven't come across it anywhere else.)

The film is (if I recall correctly), in alphabetical order. By law, all Alabama casualties had to be reported to the State. These reports were then used to compile this list. Information includes unit designation, place of death, and cause of death.

However, also as Alan mentions, late war reporting was sketchy at best. So, I'm not sure how much luck you would have finding a late war death in this microfilm.

By the way, for those of you on the project looking for a count of Alabama deaths, this would certainly be the most logical starting point, in my opinion.
