In a history of the 5th Michigan Cavalry, a regiment in Sheridan's command, there is a reference to an engagement during the Appomattox Campaign called "Duck's Pond". Does anyone know when and where this engagement occurred? What units were involved? Is this battle/skirmish known by another name?
In W. F. Fulton's book, "FAMILY RECORD AND WAR REMINISCENCES" he refers to an engagement in which members of the 5th Alabama Battalion participated in the repulse of an attack on a Confederate wagon train by Sheridan's Cavalry. I am attempting to find the most likely candidate for the engagement, to which, Fulton is referring.
