Dear John,
Thanks to both you and Hoyt for attempting to provide some details on this little-known engagement. I am attempting to document all of the reported raids and attacks on Confederate wagon trains in the Appomattox campaign, which ultimately, may not be possible.
I am attempting to reduce all of the attacks and raids down to a smaller list where the 5th Alabama Battalion might have been nearby. The purpose is to determine from W.F. Fulton's "Family Record and War Reminiscences" where a repulse, he vaguely recounts in the book of some of Sheridan's troops, might have occurred.
If I can know most of these locations and cross-reference them with locations where the 5th Battalion could or could not have been, then I can focus on one or a smaller number of these events to see if it is possible to know to what engagement Fulton is referring.
Thanks again to you and Hoyt for your responses,
Jim
