Based upon my exclusive research of the 14th Alabama, I have found in most cases that the later enlistments (1862, 1863, and 1864) were younger brothers who were not old enough to enlist earlier (My sample is only the 14th Alabama, so it is very likely an error). Before your comments, because William enlisted in 1864, and not knowing the relationships of the Pinckard family members, I had speculated that he was a younger brother of J. H. and J. P.
