Re: 4th Alabama Captain Porter King

Dear Gentlemen: I really appreciate your terrific responses - you gave me exactly what I was looking for! Poor Gen'l Bee. I agree with you all - whatever Bee's meaning (inspiration or desperation), he and his men were very heroic. Also another perfect demonstration of how unenviable command positions and decisions can be. I'm sure Jackson wasn't enjoying the scenery either. No wonder Captain King retained one of the cotton bale battle flags - I'd have never parted with it. I have great respect for Jackson, for them all. My personal favorite being Longstreet but that's a girl thing! :) Discovered a couple of months ago that Capt. T. J. Goree was my 5th cousin, 2x's removed. Too flippin' cool! :) Then a gg-dad who was a poor volunteer infantryman from Georgia who, like TJ was in it from the beginning to the end. What a gamut!
Warmest & fuzziest regards,
Stephanie
