The widow, L J Bishop, filed a pension application in Hale County AL for John Bishop, Co K, 5th Mississippi Regt. This would be Louwincy Jane Bishop, Feb. 1827 - Dec. 1917. The "intelligent, literate daughter" mentioned would be Johnnie Nicolene Bishop, obviously named for her father and born in Mississippi, Oct 10, 1863. It would be interesting to have the particulars from the pension application. She remained on the Hale County pension roll from 1889 until her death in 1917.
