It is funny I was about to post a question, and figured I would peruse the thread first and seen Ms. Smolek, question about her relative a Mr. William Givens. Something was mentioned about Cpt. Hutchinson's Engineer Corp. That is exactly what I was going to ask about, had anyone heard of this Unit? I take it, from what was mentioned in the other post, that they had something to do with the defense of Mobile?
The reason I'm asking is my 3rd G.grand Uncle Joseph Allred, joined the 29th inf in Sept 1861, and transferred to this unit in July, 1863, I can find no info on him further or this unit, any info on either is appreiciated.
