** The 21st (also called the 16th and Wilson's) Regiment Tennessee Cavalry) was organized about February 4, 1864, by the consolidation of Franklin's and Kizer's Regiment Tennessee Cavalry. Some of the members appear to have been illegally mustered November 21, 1863, as of Newson's [18th] Regiment Tennessee Cavalry. The regiment was consolidated with the 22nd (also called the 2nd and Barteau's) Regiment Tennessee Cavalry February 13, 1865, and formed the 21st and 22nd Regiment Tennessee Cavalry (Consolidated), which was paroled at Gainesville, Alabama, in May, 1865.
